For example, your doctor can give you emergency hormonal treatment with the "morning after" contraceptive Preven or insert an intrauterine device (IUD) to prevent a fertilized egg from developing in your uterus. Fortunately your chance of pregnancy is extremely low—between 2 and 4 percent—unless the attack took place in the middle of your menstrual cycle.
